Seeking Spiritual Guidance From The Holy Ghost

by Eszel Ganzon

Dear brothers and sisters, my name is Eszel and I was assigned to talk today on how to seek spiritual inspiration and guidance from the Holy Ghost.

As we all know that the Holy Ghost is one of the member of the Godhead. He is the testifier of all truth and through his guidance and inspiration we will know the truth of all things. I received the gift of the Holy Ghost when I was eight years old from my father who confirmed me as a member of Jesus Christ’s true church after my baptism.

From that time on the Holy Ghost was my constant companion and loyal friend. My father taught me that whenever I pray for guidance and direction the Holy Ghost will always be there to teach me the right things that I needed to do. I will know if the Holy Ghost is teaching me the truth if I feel good, comfortable, and happy with what I’m doing. It teaches me to do what is right.

Often times I pray for protection on my way to school and on my way home. I pray that Heavenly Father will always send the Holy Ghost and my guardian angel to accompany me wherever I go.

I would like to share with you an experience I had before our school Chinese New Year holiday last month. This experience teaches me the importance of the Holy Ghost in my life.

I was walking on my way to take the MTR station, when suddenly just a few meters away from our school gate I was surrounded by more or less than ten young men, ages around 13 to 16, carrying chain sticks and iron rods. A chain stick (Nunchaku) is a deadly weapon we watched Bruce Lee used in his last movie. If you haven’t at all watched his movies, then you may have seen him holding this weapon in some of his movie posters. This is a very deadly weapon and a hard hit on the head with its metal stick could be fatal.

Without any warning these young mobs suddenly attacked me violently, without any reason, hitting me first on the back of my head with a chain stick, and immediately each one take turns in hitting me with iron rods and chain sticks again and again on my arms, body, and legs until I fell on the ground. Still unsatisfied, they started kicking me as hard as they can.

As I sink into despair, I heared the Holy Ghost whispering to me to protect my head by covering it with my arms. So I curled up to protect my head with my both arms.

During the attack my classmates saw what was happening and they run back to school to ask help from our teachers. Immediately the teachers were there chasing the assailants away. My classmates then, carried me back to school and one of my teachers brought me to the hospital.

The police were there investigating the case were surprised to know that despite of the brutality of the attack I only suffered a small bump on my right head and a few bruises on my right arm near my elbow. I think I only got this when I feel on the ground. Anything else in my body is fine. The policemen who had witnessed these kinds of heavy assault cases before said that victims usually couldn’t rise up to walk their way to the hospital. They said that this is a very strange case and is indeed a miracle.

For me it was a manifestation of the power of the Holy Ghost. I know that at that moment my guardian angels were there to protect me. They were my classmates and my teachers. I am so grateful for their presence. I know that Heavenly Father has answered my prayers. I know that Heavenly loves us all and He will never forsake us in our times of needs.

I love my Father in Heaven as I love my parents. I am so thankful that God has placed me on this earth to experience a wonderful life and through my testimony of His love I will be able to enjoy life.

Every night as I kneel in prayers together with my parents and my baby brother, we thank God for his goodness and love. We thank God for the Holy Ghost, for his daily inspiration, protection, and guidance.
